Private house in Shardometi

The private house in Shardometi is a modern interpretation of the “Oda”. The exterior and interior of the building are inspired by the architectural traditions of the Racha. Considering the natural conditions of the region, the first floor of the house is plaster, and the second floor is made of wood.

The inspiration from the Traditional “oda” is clearly visible in the volume of the house, mimicking the typology of the traditional four-pitched roof.

The red element of the fireplace is used to strengthen the house’s identity. It represents the symbolism of the central fire, also known as "Kera", a characteristic element of local architecture.

In order to maintain the connection with the surrounding nature, and to blur the border between indoor and outdoor spaces, large, stained glass windows are used, the shapes of which are also inspired by traditional Rachuli houses
